![]() ![]() I had decided that Apple should've made a push into the Pro app territory, seeing how many high-grade design apps are now available for the iPad. It was my expectations on the M1 that resulted in my disappointment. But I got myself knotted thinking that an iPad having the 'Mac chip' inside of it meant that I should be able to do more 'Mac stuff.' Had Apple just called the chip inside the iPad Pro the A14X and bumped up the RAM from 6 to 8GB like in years past, I doubt I would have paid it any mind. ![]() It turns out that's exactly the configuration the M1 offers! It might have been a manufacturing decision, or it may have been a marketing decision leaning on the good name the M1 had created for itself. If Apple had done the same thing and put an A14X into the new iPad Pro, the convention would suggest it would have 2-more high-performance cores and a doubling of the GPU cores. Historically when Apple has added an X-suffix to the A-series chips (A12 versus A12X), it coincided with an increase of high-performance cores (from 2-to-4) and a doubling of the GPU cores (from 4-to-8). I have no idea why Apple decided to brand the processor inside the new 2021 iPad Pros as the M1. Not only had I tripped over my expectations, but because Apple had done such an incredible job over the past year highlighting the potential of M1 on the Mac, I had hoped a similar narrative would form around the iPad Pro and was disappointed when it didn't. Despite being familiar with the adage of not buying current hardware on the promise of future software, with WWDC right around the corner, how could you not begin to imagine what M1 could mean for the iPad Pro? Would that mean new Pro Apps? Proper external display support? Or maybe exclusive Pro features in iPadOS?Īs it turned out, WWDC did little to showcase the heights of what an M1 on an iPad Pro was capable of. When Apple announced the next generation of iPad Pros would feature Apple's M1 chip and up to 16GB of RAM, I couldn't help beginning to fantasize what that would mean for the future of the iPad and iPadOS. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() » Further information can be found in our Notebook Purchase Guide. ![]() ![]() 1966 economic crisesĭuring this time, India was still a developing economy. Making the lower denominations a part of Indian currency, the money was made accessible to every Indian citizen but it also increased the value of INR. This move was considered important because decimalisation always played a part in modernisation and revolutionary change in the currency system and for the economy. The prefix naye was removed but the value continued. During this phase, Indian Rupee was divided into 100 naye paise (Hindi/Urdu for new paisas). Some of the key factors that made this happened are listed below Decimalisationĭecimalisation happened in 1957. This also plays a role in the current value of INR to one USD. In the last ten years during which period of the great recession of 2008 has passed the US federal fund rates have been flat at 0.25 percent. Multiple Economic Crisis, Privatization, Devaluation and loans from The World Bank played a role in determining the value of 1 USD to INR over and over again. Since the time of Independence, Indian Rupee has been through a lot of situations that kept bringing down its value. Key factors that played a role in the current status of Indian Rupee (INR) When India gained independence, it had to accept the international metric system and the value of rupee changed at the same moment. In official records, 1 INR was never equal to 1 USD. The ever changing rates of Indian Currency to US Dollar As per the modern metric system, the value of INR to USD in 1913 should be 0.09 and if we keep the 1 USD = 1 INR argument then it the value went to 3.31 in 1948 and 3.67 in 1949, by 1970, INR was 7.50 to 1 USD. Since Independence in 1947, the value of INR has consistently gone down. Everyone was slowly adjusting to it during the time India gained independence. This agreement determined the value of every currency in the world. The history essentially starts from the time when the Britton Woods agreement was passed in 1944. Here it is believed that 1 Pound was equal to 13.37 Rupees during 1947, and that’s why the value of USD should be INR 4.16 in 1947. The most common one is however that there was no metric system so all currencies had the same value.Īnother argument is that before 1947, India was a British ruled state, so the value of INR was higher because value of pound was higher. There are multiple arguments about how 1 Dollar rupees in 1947 had a better value. It is believed that 1 INR used to be equal to 1 USD. When India became independent in 1947 the situation was very much different. Today, the value of INR is lower than USD, but this was not the case before. This will give you an idea of how the journey of INR has been so far and where does US Dollar stand at the end of June 2023. You can start analysing the change in rate of 1 USD to INR in 1947 and see how exchange rate kept increasing in the coming years. ![]() Here, a chart will show you the changing value of 1 USD to INR. 1 USD to INR Rates From 1947 to 2023 Year Some of the denominations higher than USD are Kuwaiti Dinar, Bahrain Dinar, British Pound and Euro. Dollar’s value has been always higher than most of the currencies. Its status is on a level where most of the international trade and exchange is valued using this currency. US Dollar is considered as one of the most valuable currencies in the world. This practice is frequent between the travellers visiting South East Asia and Middle East. Many travellers travelling abroad exchange INR to USD and then later get it converted to the local currencies to get a better rate. INR’s value ranges around 80 – 85 to 1 USD. Today, if we convert 1 USD to INR the Indian currency’s value is lower than USD. ![]() ![]() ![]() Implementation detailsĪ common approach is to use music genres to classify music, but I find this to be too simplistic and constraining. ![]() I spent some time looking for an alternative solution but didn't find anything. I have a large library of music and I miss having a simple way to say "keep playing songs like this" (especially when I am driving) and something to help me discover new music, even within my own collection. Of course, Spotify now offers this functionality but, personally, I find the recommendations that it makes to be, at best, music I already know and, at worst, rather commercial and uncreative. Apple decided to remove this functionality (although it is still available in iTunes), presumably in a move to persuade people to subscribe to their music streaming service. Some years ago, the iPod had a very cool feature called Genius, which created a playlist on-the-fly based on a few example songs. I thought that artificial intelligence could be applied to this "music intuition" as a music recommendation system based on simply listening to a song (and, of course, having an encyclopaedic knowledge of music). Or, if a song is playing, one that would go well with it usually comes to mind immediately. I can almost instantly tell whether I am going to like a song or not just by listening to it for a few seconds. ![]() I have collected many rare records over the years and done a bit of deejaying on the radio and in clubs. In my book, it's not about how you play, but what you play. To be honest, I have always found that kind of DJ rather boring: the better they are technically, the more it sounds just like one interminable song. There are a number of automatic DJ tools around, which cleverly match the tempo of one song with another and mix the beats. The code for the website is available here. UPDATE: Check out the results after applying to 320,000 tracks on Spotify here. UPDATE: You can now use this model even more easily than before in the Hugging Face hub. I have added a train directory to this repo where you can find a README with detailed instructions on how to obtain datasets and train your own model from scratch. UPDATE: After nearly 5 years, I have finally got around to re-training the model deployed at with a million playlists and a million tracks. Robert Dargavel Smith - Advanced Machine Learning end of Masters project ( MBIT School, Madrid, Spain) ![]() ![]() The formation of the great Himalayas is basically the result of a continental collision called orogeny along the convergent wall of the Eurasian Plate as well as Indo-Australian plate. What caused the formation of the Himalayas? ![]() They cover approximately 1,500 mi (2,400 km) and pass through the nations of India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Bhutan and Nepal. The Himalayas stretch across the northeastern portion of India. 225 million years ago (Ma) India was a large island situated off the Australian coast and separated from Asia by the Tethys Ocean. The Himalayan mountain range and Tibetan plateau have formed as a result of the collision between the Indian Plate and Eurasian Plate which began 50 million years ago and continues today. There are some sub-varieties but these are the main ones. Are the Himalayas an example of a divergent plate boundary?ĭivergent (Mid-Atlantic ridge, The Rift Valley), Convergent (The Andes, The Himalayas) and Transform (San Andreas fault, Dead Sea Transform). The northerly side of the Plate is a convergent boundary with the Eurasian Plate forming the Himalaya and Hindu Kush mountains, called the Main Himalayan Thrust. What kind of plate boundary is the Indian Plate boundary with the Himalayan mountains? Typically, a convergent plate boundary-such as the one between the Indian Plate and the Eurasian Plate-forms towering mountain ranges, like the Himalaya, as Earth’s crust is crumpled and pushed upward. What type of plate boundary exists in the Himalayas? 2 Are the Himalayas an example of a divergent plate boundary?.1 What type of plate boundary exists in the Himalayas?.Some of the most tectonically active areas in the world are located throughout Asia and regions of the Indian and Pacific Oceans, leading to devastating earthquakes and tsunamis. This kind of tectonic stress has its consequences on local and regional populations. Even today, these two plates are still converging and pushing up the crust, adding to the height of the Himalayas at a rate of about 1 centimeter per year. In the 40 to 50 million years since the Indian plate has collided with the Eurasian plate, the crust that forms the Himalayas has been uplifted more than 9 kilometers, and the uplifting has not stopped. The other is a continent-continent convergent plate boundary, in which both slabs have equal density, so instead of one getting buried underneath the other, they both buckle at the plate boundary, and crust is pushed upwards, as it is in the Himalayas. One is an ocean-continent convergent plate boundary, in which the water-heavy oceanic slab is subducted underneath the lighter continental slab. There are two kinds of convergent plate boundaries. The two plates were now being pushed against one another in what would be called a convergent plate boundary environment. Scientists estimate the new rate of drifting was about half what it was before the collision occurred, so about 4.5 meters per 100 years. The rate of northward drifting of the Indian plate naturally slowed soon after it collided with the Eurasian plate. By the time the Indian plate rotated and collided with the Eurasian plate, Sri Lanka was situated to the southeast of the Indian plate and remains in this position today. At the beginning of the Indian plate’s journey, the small island of Sri Lanka was attached and located southwest of the Indian plate. The Indian plate was also rotating counterclockwise as it drifted northward. At about 55 million years ago, the northern tip of the Indian plate was crossing the equator, and about 40 million years ago it rammed into the Eurasian plate. The northward movement of the Indian plate began about 71 million years ago and the rate of movement was about 9 meters per 100 years. ![]() By about 80 million years ago, India was located approximately 6,400 kilometers south of the Eurasian plate. At this time India was a large island in very close proximity to the continental islands of Australia and Antarctica. This supercontinent had broken up and the pieces were starting to drift from each other about 200 million years ago. There were many supercontinents before Pangea, but Pangea is the last supercontinent that broke up to form today’s continents. The Indian and Eurasian PlatesĪll of today’s continental and oceanic plates started off connected as part of one big continental plate called the supercontinent Pangea.
